ABOUT THE DEITY:
The Goddess is depicted here with four hands where she is seen carrying a Trishul and a pot of Nectar in two of her hands. The other two hands are in Varada and Abhaya Mudra.
The deity is a form of worship of Mohini, the female avatar of Lord Vishnu who takes to life during the Kurma avatar or Samudra Manthana to ensure that the Gods get the full share of Amrith(Nectar) that has been churned out of the ocean.
The Devi is also believed to be a form of Parvati and consort of Khandoba, a manifestation of Lord Shiva.
The Goddess is worshipped as a Kuladevi(family Goddess) in many Saraswath communities.
